Itinerary

  • Early departure to Syabrubesi (1,450 m) by private jeep or local bus, discovering the first panoramas of the Himalayas. Approx. 6/7 hours drive.

  • The trek begins along the Langtang Khola (river) upstream through dense, subtropical forests filled with bamboo, oak, and rhododendron. The climb becomes steeper as you approach Lama Hotel (2,480 m), a small village nestled in a forested area, with basic teahouses and views of the surrounding hills. Approx. 5/6 hours hike, ascending 1,430 m and descending 250 m.

  • The trail continues through the forest, with occasional clearings offering stunning glimpses of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m). The route ascends gradually, following the river and after few hours, the landscape starts to open up as you enter the himalayan zone. You will cross yak pastures and reach Langtang Village (3,430 m) a historic settlement devastated by the 2015 earthquake but now rebuilt.  Approx. 6/7 hours hike, ascending 900 and descending 70 m.

  • The trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m) is relatively short but scenic. The valley widens, and you will pass through yak pastures and small streams, along Tibetan mani walls. You will start seeing glaciated peaks, including Langtang Lirung, Langshisha Ri (6,427m), and Dorje Lakpa (6,966m). Kyanjin Gompa is a beautiful village with an ancient Buddhist monastery and a famous cheese factory. Approx. 3 hours hike, ascending 410 m.

  • Being in Kyanjin Gompa, we offer 3 hiking alternatives :

    1. A steep 3/4 hours climb till the Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m), that rewards trekkers with stunning panoramic views of the Langtang range.

    2. A more challenging 7/8 hour round-trip hike till the Tserko Ri (4,984 m), offering breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung, the Langshisha glaciers, and several peaks.

    3. A moderate, beautiful, long walk along the valley floor toward the Langshisha Glacier, that offers incredible landscapes.

  • Retrace your steps through Langtang Village and different settlements, descending back through the forests of the Langtang Valley. The descent to Lama Hotel (2,480m) is relatively easier and faster, though you still want to take your time to enjoy the scenery. Approx. 6/7 hours hike, ascending 70 m and descending 1,310 m.

  • On the final day, following the same trail, you descend further into the warm, subtropical forests. This is a relatively easy day. Approx 5/6 hours hike, ascending 250 m and descending 1,430 m.

  • Back to Kathmandu by jeep or local bus and transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu.
