Trek Details
The trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC) is one of the most amazing trekking experiences in Nepal, towards the tallest mountains in the world like Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Cho Oyu (8,188 m), Makalu (8,485 m), or even Nuptse (7,861 m).
Come and discover the Khumbu Valley, land of Mount Everest and native place of the Sherpas. After landing in Lukla, it will take you two days to reach Namche Bazaar, capital of the Sherpa country for an acclimatization day. Then, following your path, the highest mountains start to rise up in front of you. You reach Tyangboche monastery located under the buttresses of Ama Dablam (6,812 m), then Pangboche and Dingboche villages. Gorakshep is the last camp before Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) and Kala Patthar (5,545 m), where you can contemplate the most spectacular scene and viewpoint, with the Mount Everest, surrounded by other giants like Nuptse (7,861 m), Pumori (7,161 m) and Lhotse (8,516m). This trek is a complete itinerary with spectacular and varied landscapes. It is also a great opportunity to meet and discover the Sherpa people and culture.
Possible option: the trail takes you to the Gokyo lakes, from where you can climb Gokyo Peak (5,360 m), then reach Everest Base Camp after crossing Cho La pass (5,420 m).

It is good to have previous experience of hiking and/or trekking but a beginner in good condition can do it. You must be able to hike 6 to 8 hours and climb at least 1,000 m (3,300 ft) per day, for several days in a row.

Itinerary

Early transfer to Kathmandu airport or a very early departure to Manthali airport for a short but scenic flight to Lukla that offers a magnificent panorama of the Himalayas. From Lukla airport (2,850 m), trekking to Phakding (2,600 m). Approx. 4 hours hike, ascending 250 m and descending 470 m.

A gentle climb to Namche Bazaar (3,44O m), through magnificent rhododendron and magnolia forests, and across the famous Hillary Bridge, one of the tallest suspension bridges in Nepal. Approx. 5 hours hike, ascending 1,250 m and descending 430 m.

Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar and short trek to Everest View Hotel (3,850 m) and Khumjung village after visiting the Sherpa Culture Museum and the Sagarmatha National Park Museum. Approx. 3 hours hike, ascending and descending 450 m

This day begins with an easy walk to Phunki Thanga, during which you may observe sheeps, deers and himalayan birds. After the climb to Tengboche (3,860 m), you can enjoy wonderful views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Thamserku and Ama Dablam and visit the monastery. Approx. 5/6 hours hike, ascending 800 m and descending 375 m.

A climb through forests of birch, pine and rhododendron takes you to Pangboche. Then, after leaving vegetation, you will reach Dingboche village (4,350 m) through beautiful himalayan landscapes. Approx 6 hours hike, ascending 950 m and descending 470 m.

The path ascends on rocky mountains through a broad sloping valley towards the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Ama Dablam and Thamserku. Lobuche refuge is located at 4,930 m. Approx 6 hours hike, ascending 1,050 m and descending 450 m.

The trail follows the left side of Khumbu Valley across multiple steep moraines until Gorakshep (5,140 m). After the lunch, a ride across the moraines to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m), at the foot of the dreaded Ice Fall and Everest’s seracs. Return by the same route to Gorakshep for the night. Approx 8/9 hours hike, ascending 1,300 m and descending 590 m.

A new long day trek from Gorakshep to the Kala Patthar view point (5,545 m) a prime location for the sunrise and a fantastic view to Mount Everest. Afterwards, after a breakfast in Gorakshep, the trek will continue to Pheriche (4,260 m), on the way back to Namche. Approx 8/9 hours hike, ascending 890 m and descending 1,790 m.

A beautiful journey along Dudh Koshi River and in the forest of rhododendron until Namche Bazaar (3,440 m). Approx 8/9 hours hike, ascending 870 m and descending 1,750 m.

Back to Lukla (2,850 m) through the same route. Approx 8/9 hours hike, ascending 880 m and descending 1,420 m.

Back to Kathmandu by morning flight. 35 minutes flight and transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu.
